WOSA 2.1

WOSA by Wincor Nixdorf is a Windows-based middleware layer that implements the industry-standard WOSA/XFS (Windows Open System Architecture/Extensions for Financial Services) specification. It provides a unified, vendor-agnostic API for controlling financial peripherals—such as cash dispensers and recyclers, card readers, encrypting PIN pads, receipt and journal printers, cash acceptors/deposit modules, and sensors—commonly used in ATMs and branch banking systems. By abstracting device differences behind a consistent interface, WOSA helps financial applications integrate and operate reliably across multi-vendor hardware estates.

Key capabilities:

• Unified device access: Standardized commands and events for a broad range of ATM and branch devices.
• Service provider architecture: Pluggable XFS service providers for each device class to enable multi-vendor interoperability and easier device swaps.
